CWC on the Road

2025 continues to prove itself to be a busy year for the CWC team. Last month we attended the 1st anniversary party for FLARE, Financial Leadership for Artists & Rising Entrepreneurs, in Toronto. It was amazing to celebrate this milestone alongside the entire team, and surrounding community. Thank you to Nissrine Shuman for your consideration and continued support.

While in Toronto, CWC took the opportunity to meet with current Student Work Placement program participants at the Bentway Conservancy. Thank you for the hospitality and your willingness to share your experiences with SWP.

International Arts Education WeekLater in May, our very own Executive Director, Gregoire Gagnon, was invited to South Korea to attend International Arts Education Week. Gregoire participated in the International Expert Meeting where he shared his expertise on strengthening sustainable ecosystems for arts and culture through professional development. Gregoire effectively underscored how human resource management in the arts should be recognized not just as a challenge to address, but as a platform for growth and innovation. The creative strengths of those working in the sector are a vital part of the solution. CWC is dedicated to building partnerships with global stakeholders to co-create practical, forward-thinking strategies. Through mutual understanding and coordinated efforts, the sector can more effectively navigate its most urgent issues. During his time in Seoul, Gregoire gave a presentation on The Art of Managing Your Career to a substantial audience of aspiring artists, providing insightful guidance and resources to support their entry into professional artistic careers. We extend our sincere thanks to the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service for their warm hospitality and for inviting CWC to represent Canada as a leading voice on human resource matters.

Mental Health Summer Series

Marianne Berthelette is excited to announce our new summer series “Happy Hour/Wellness Hour” aimed at supporting one another through mental health challenges. Starting July 9th, the virtual workshop will include activities to help understand emotions, and support your overall mental well-being. In partnership with the Psychological Center for Artists, a total of 8 sessions (4 in English and 4 in French) will be hosted by Marianne Berthelette. The workshop is free for participants in the Student Work Placement (SWP) program in 2025-2026 and for CWC members. Click here to become a member!

With a bachelor's degree in psychology from the Université de Montréal, Marianne is passionate about the intersection between art, emotion, and mental health. She deeply believes that art allows us to create a sacred space, where we can freely express ourselves and liberate ourselves through creativity. Her mission is to create a space where artists can find emotional support while nourishing their creativity. Marianne has acquired significant experience as a trainer-counselor and interventionist at the Montreal Suicide Prevention Center, where she developed and led several training sessions, workshops, and conferences for schools as well as the health and social services network.
